Fractional Head of Sales

Senior sales leadership at lower intensity, without the full-time hire. For teams that can't yet justify a full-time Head of Sales and aren't ready to commit to an interim: the founder still close to the selling, a small team, and a real need for senior leadership a day or two a week. I can steer an engine that already runs, or build one from scratch at this lighter cadence.

What it is

Light-touch leadership that keeps the engine compounding.

Ongoing senior ownership of your sales engine at one or two days a week. I steer the pipeline, run the forecast rhythm, coach the team and keep the system honest, the leadership a founder needs, sized to a company that isn't ready for (or doesn't need) a full-time VP.

Build or steer. Fractional isn't only for engines that already run. When there's no system yet, I can build one from scratch at this lighter cadence, it just takes a little longer than a near full-time interim term.

It compounds. Once the engine is built, what it needs is consistent senior attention, not a full-time seat. Fractional keeps the engine improving while you put the budget where it moves the needle.

Interim or fractional?

Which one fits you

Start with interim if…

  • The engine doesn't exist yet, or is badly broken
  • You just raised and need an engine fast
  • You need someone carrying the number near full-time
  • There's a clear handover target, a future hire or an internal lead
See interim

Choose fractional if…

  • A working engine exists and needs senior steering
  • You want the engine built, but at a sustainable one-to-two-day cadence rather than near full-time
  • You want leadership continuity without a full-time cost
  • We've finished an interim term and you want to keep the rhythm
  • Your stage genuinely calls for one to two days a week

How it runs in practice

A few clients, each with senior ownership.

Investment

Priced on the outcome, not the day rate.

I work on a daily retainer, fractional at one to two days a week per client, billed monthly, with no long lock-in. It's the senior leadership a growing team needs, without the cost or commitment of a full-time Head of Sales hire.

Start small. Most engagements open with a short paid scoping diagnostic (one to two weeks) that de-risks the decision for both sides before we commit.

Where it fits both sides, I'm open to structuring part of the retainer around performance, virtual shares, equity or debt, so my incentive points the same way as yours.

Want to ballpark it against a full-time hire? Use the cost calculator, or book a call and we'll scope it.
